Over the past few weeks I started noticing what seemed like a string of somewhat misfortunate events happening in Paris Hilton’s life right around her birthday, and I thought that it might be a portent of a difficult year for her in general, so I thought that it would be good to check out her solar return chart for this year in order to see what is going on. Here is a recap of a few of the issues that Paris has been having lately for those who don’t follow the tabloids. Note that her birthday is on February 17^th.

• January 22, 2007 - The website ParisExposed.com is launched. It features images of personal documents, video, and other embarrassing material allegedly obtained when the contents of her storage locker was auctioned off due to delinquent payments. Paris files a lawsuit a few days later on the 27th, and the judge filed an injunction against the site on Feb. 3^rd, but not before 1.2 million people had already visited the site in the first 40 hours and quite a bit of damage had already been done. This whole episode started about a week before Mercury entered its shadow in preparation for the upcoming retrograde period.
• February 15, 2007 - Paris attends the Vienna Opera Ball in Austria and then has to be pulled away from an autograph signing by her security guards because someone started throwing trash at her. On her way back she also apparently ran into issues in Germany because her passport had expired and the German authorities had to contact the US embassy in order to vouch for her. This occurred the day after Mercury stationed retrograde at 10 Pisces.
• February 17, 2007 - Paris was apparently stood up by a number of people for her 26^th birthday party. According to The Superficial “she got stood up by A-list celebrities and even her friends. Sources say there were no names there except her sister, and at one point Paris announced on a microphone that Nicole Richie was “on her way” but Richie never showed up.” Mercury is retrograde and conjunct Paris’ natal Mars at 8 Pisces on this day.
• February 19, 2007 - The Associated Press places an active ban on reports about Paris Hilton for one week, including her high profile birthday party(s), although they eventually cave in and begin reporting again.
• February 27, 2007 - Paris is pulled over for driving without her headlights on and speeding. Unfortunately her license was already suspended from a previous incident last September where she was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, and so they impounded her car. This is problematic because this traffic infraction is a violation of the terms of the probation that she started in September, and one of the possible, albeit unlikely, consequences is spending up to 90 days in jail. This occurred the day after Mercury made its retrograde ingress back into Aquarius.

Ok, so it isn’t exactly like Paris’ world is falling apart here or anything, but I just thought that it was interesting that this string of somewhat minor events all sort of coalesced around this time. Maybe I just got suckered in by typical over reporting of relatively unimportant celebrity news that is made out to be more important than it really is, but it still might be interesting to see what is going on in her chart this year and see if we can draw some conclusions about how the rest of the year will go for her.

Unfortunately we don’t have a birth time for Paris Hilton at the moment, so the techniques that can be employed are limited to some transits and profections around an approximate solar return chart set for her birthday this year in February 17th. The inner chart is her natal chart using whole sign houses starting from the sign of her Sun, and the outer chart is transits for the day of her birthday this year.

Analysis and Forcast

Paris just turned 26 which means that as of her birthday she is in a 3^rd house profection year. Thus all of the planets that share a 1^st house-3^rd house relationship with one another are activated this year. In other words all of the planets that are in sextile configurations in her chart are activated and have the power of those natal configurations awakened at this time. Interestingly enough Paris had quite a few planets sharing this relationship in the sky when she was born, and this would generally seem to bode well for a relatively easy and fruitful year.

Since all of the planets hand over three signs in zodiacal order we start with the Moon and note that this year the Moon is handing over to the sign Libra which contains her powerful Jupiter-Saturn conjunction as well as her natal Pluto, all of which are retrograde natally. It is difficult to say whether or not this handing over is more positive or negative for Paris since we don’t know if she was born during the day or at night, but it is safe to say that that it will indicate a number of important emotional gains (Jupiter) and losses (Saturn) this year that will be characterized by the nature of whatever transit hits those Libra planets during the course of the year. Of particular importance is the Mars retrograde in Cancer which squares her natal Jupiter-Saturn conjunction from October through December, and seems to forebode separations and the severing of the parts of her life signified by Jupiter and Saturn. If we had the birth time we might be able to narrow down exactly what area of life this particular transit will be effecting, but for now it should be interesting to simply observe what happens during that time frame.

We may note that the more sobering or emotionally depressing Saturn transit over Paris Hilton’s natal Moon in Leo that has been going on since mid-July of 2005 will continue to confront Paris with additional emotional setbacks and discontent over the course of the next few months as it completes its last retrograde cycle in Leo and then stations direct at 18 Leo in mid-April in opposition to her natal Venus before commencing its final trip through the rest of Leo and then ingresses into Virgo by early September.

Although we are not sure precisely which degree Paris’ Moon is in Leo without the birth time, it is safe to say that this Saturn transit that has been going on for the past two years has been one of the key indications of some of the more significant splits that she has had with friends and lovers, and this final pass of Saturn in opposition to her natal Venus, Mercury and Sun may indicate that other close personal relationships in her life that have outlived their novelty may cool off in the coming months. Fortunately Jupiter is transiting through Sagittarius right now and it makes an almost exact sextile to her natal Venus in the solar return chart, which seems to indicate that this year will bring some important new relationships into her life and perhaps the rekindling of a few old flames. On the positive side the handing over of Uranus and Neptune to the Aquarius planets Venus, Mercury and the Sun would seem to emphasize a unique, exciting, romantic and idealistic dimension to these new relations, but the downside is that it could indicate relationships that are short and that do not live up to their over idealized expectations.

Of particular importance is the Venus retrograde period that occurs later this summer with the first part beginning in late June when Venus enters its shadow at 16 degrees of Leo right in opposition to Paris’ natal Venus. Then Venus will eventually station retrograde in late July at 2 Virgo and then will fall backwards in the zodiac for the next few weeks during the month of August. Right in the middle of the month on the night of August 17^th Venus will make an inferior conjunction with the Sun at 24 Leo in loose opposition to Paris’s Sun Mercury conjunction. Venus continues to retrace its steps through the zodiac all the way until it stations direct at 16 Leo in opposition to her natal Venus again in early September, right about the same time that Saturn makes its ingress into Virgo and finally stops harassing her natal Leo and Aquarius planets. The whole episode will finally be over by mid-October when Venus leaves its shadow. It should prove to be a very interesting period to observe in her life, particularly with respect to her love life and her relationships, and it could indicate a number of interesting headlines involving her and her partners at this time. The fact that Venus initially stations in Virgo in late July close to an opposition with her natal Mars may indicate an initial split or a separation with a lover or perhaps a friend, but then when it stations direct in opposition to her natal Venus in September it would seem to indicate some sort of reconciliation or the forming of bonds with someone new perhaps.

The Moon handing over to Pluto is a sign of emotionally intense interactions taking center stage this year, and the square from Mars in Capricorn to her natal Pluto in Libra in the Solar return chart would seem to indicate that many of these intense interactions are likely to take on more contentious and controversial undertones. One of the things that I noticed in this chart is that the Mercury retrograde that is going on right now landed right on Paris’ natal Mars in Pisces which is square her natal Uranus. This could portend to a number of sudden disruptions and unexpected separations this year revolving around mercurial issues such as misunderstandings, disagreements, delays, accidents, travel snafus, etc. It is notable that the trash throwing incident in Austria happened only 2 days after Mercury stationed retrograde in Pisces, and it also brings to mind her being pulled over and having her car impounded last week the day that Mercury made its retrograde ingress back into Aquarius, all simply due to forgetting to turn her headlights on, in typical mercury retrograde fashion. When it comes down to it, it seems like her Mars is going to be the biggest problem that she is going to have to contend with this year, and its activation at various points this year will indicate some of the more troubling episodes that she is going to encounter. Notice that her Aquarius planets hand over to the third sign from themselves which is Aries, but with no natal planets there to take up the profection her natal Mars becomes the time-lord relative to those three important planets in her chart. This becomes problematic mainly much later in the year after Saturn has ingressed into Virgo and then stations at 8 degrees of Virgo in December right in opposition to her natal Mars at 8 Pisces. The already difficult character of this period is underlined again by the fact that this Saturn station is occurring right in the middle of a Mars retrograde period in early Cancer/late Gemini that makes hard aspects to her Jupiter/Saturn conjunction in Libra and her Neptune in Sagittarius. Without the birth time and thus the houses it is difficult to pinpoint exactly which area of life these transits will be effecting, but what seems certain is that this Saturn transit appears to be indicating that she is about to run into serious difficulties and start encountering some pretty stiff opposition in the area of her life signified by Mars, and the results could actually be quite dangerous if Paris is not careful.

Final Synopsis
It would appear that the string of events taking place over the past few weeks in Paris’ life mainly has to do with the Mercury retrograde going on in Pisces and Aquarius which is hitting her natal Mars, Sun and Mercury. Both the incident in Austria and the incident with her car are clearly linked to the Mercury retrograde, and the fiasco with the new sex tape also appears to have fallen suspiciously close to the retro period as well. Luckily for Paris Mercury will be stationing direct in just a few days on March 8^th and then it will make its final pass over her natal planets and leave its shadow by the last week of March. The next few months will see the continuation of some of the Saturn themes that she has been dealing with over the past couple of years with forging stronger bonds with those who play an important and constructive role in her life and weeding out and rejecting those who do not. The Venus retrograde this summer is likely to a pivotal time in her love life and it wouldn’t be surprising to see a number of important events taking place in this area of her life, particularly around the previously noted dates. By the end of the year she may encounter some pretty stiff opposition in a particular area of her life, perhaps from people such as employers, government officials, the law, etc., and there will probably be this general feeling that her attempts at self assertion are being blocked or hampered somehow. For some people this transit coincides with physical accidents, although since we are working with an untimed chart here this interpretation is not at all certain.

Update - March 20, 2007: The Superficial reports that Paris has recently split with her on-again, off-again boyfriend Stavros Niarchos at some point over the past couple of weeks.
