A few months ago I noticed a number of unfortunate events occurring in Paris Hilton’s life right around the time of her birthday and I suspected that this might be a quasi-astrological portent which signified that this would be a difficult year for her. The title of my previous blog entry on the subject was 2007 A Difficult Year for Paris Hilton? On May 4th Paris was sentenced to 45 days in jail, and late last night on June 3rd, 2007 at approximately 11:38 pm she began her jail sentence at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California.¹ So apparently the answer to the previously stated question that I posed in my blog entry earlier this year was, well… ‘yes’.

So, what is going on right now astrologically you might ask? In my analysis earlier this year I acknowledged that the Saturn station at 18 Leo towards the end of April would have an important and somewhat difficult impact on her, but since we don’t have Paris’ birth time we do not know exactly which houses any of her natal planets occupy, and thus which areas of life her Saturn transit would impact. All we know for sure is that that particular transit from Saturn was hitting her natal Moon and Venus pretty hard because when Saturn stationed direct in late April at 18 Leo it was in a close opposition to Paris’ natal Venus at 16 Aquarius, and close to a conjunction with to her natal Moon which is somewhere in mid-Leo. This is actually an excellent example of the power that certain planets have when they make their stations, either retrograde or direct.

Generally speaking, Venus tends to signify relationships in a person’s birth chart, and the Moon has particular significance for a persons emotional state and physical constitution. Saturn is seen metaphorically as this cold, sort of oppressive planet that sets boundaries and restrictions. When acting more constructively this can encourage a person to develop self discipline, restraint, and generally to adopt a more sober way of attending to the daily affairs of their life. However, in its more difficult manifestations Saturn can simply indicate restraints, depression, and all manner of things which can oppress a person and generally make them feel as if they have no control over their life. At the moment Paris is going through a particularly acute case of this type of a Saturn transit.

So, last night Paris surrendered to the authorities and was checked into jail at approximately 11:38 pm pacific time. She could supposedly spend up to 45 days in jail, but could get out in 23 days on good behavior if she plays her cards right. Here is her chart with transits for last night when she was booked into the jail

Just a few points about her transits over the course of the next month

• It is interesting to note that Mercury was retrograde when Paris was pulled over earlier this year for driving without her headlights on, which subsequently led to the charges for driving without a license and her present incarceration. Mercury is actually about to go retrograde again in about a week and a half at 11 Cancer right in the middle of her stay in prison. It just entered its shadow a few days ago on May 31st. So there appears to be some sort of link between the two Mercury retrograde periods this year.
• Paris is in a 3rd house profection year which activates the sign Aries when profecting from her Aquarius planets Venus, Mercury and the Sun, and it activates Libra when you profect from her natal Moon in Leo.
  • It is notable that Mars is currently transiting through Aries right now, the sign that it rules which is also activated by profection, and it will leave Aries and move into Taurus on the 24th of June not long before Paris becomes eligible for release around the 26th or 27th.
  • Around the same time on June 23rd, after Paris has been in jail for about 20 days, Venus enters its shadow at 16 Leo, thus kicking off this summers Venus retrograde period. This is actually one of the days that I identified back in March as being important for her this year because when Venus enters its shadow it will be in opposition to Paris’ natal Venus at 16 Aquarius.
  • Uranus stations retrograde at 18 Pisces on June 23rd/24th.
  • A few days later on June 28th Mercury will return to the exact position as where it was yesterday when Paris checked into jail as a result of its retrograde motion. The three above points may give us a strong indication that Paris will actually get out of jail on good behavior during this week, either on or not long after she has been there for the minimum 23 day period required by the law.

• One last point that I wanted to make is that there appears to be a number of configurations clustering up right around June 15th/16th that could be kind of problematic.
  • There is a new Moon at 23 Gemini that day which is directly in opposition of her natal Neptune at 24 Sagittarius.
  • Mercury stations retrograde on the 15th or 16th at 11 Cancer.
  • Venus conjoins her south node in Leo during that same period, although it makes a sextile to her Jupiter-Saturn conjunction as well.
  • Most importantly, perhaps, transiting Mars moves into an opposition with her natal Pluto at 24 Libra right around this date in mid June. The Mars-Pluto opposition is kind of unsettling because both Aries and Libra are activated this year by profection from the two luminaries, and this sort of transit can sometimes indicate violence, assaults or injuries. The Mars-Saturn square in her solar return chart was one of the things that was kind of worrisome to me when I was analyzing it earlier this year, and to see this opposition occurring while she is in jail makes me hope that she is taking extra precautions to protect herself while she is in there.

Ultimately we still need a birth time for Paris Hilton though so that we can do more precise and accurate work on her chart. If anyone happens to come across her birth time then you should let me know and I will buy you a coffee or a beer or something. Seriously.
