The Origins of Horary Astrology

Posted by on June 28, 2010 at 6:59 amOne Comment

I posted a video on the origins of horary astrology today on YouTube, as a response to a video that Kevin Burk recently posted on the subject.

The specific point of the video was to counter an assertion made by Burk that horary is one the oldest branches of astrology, when in fact I would argue that it is actually the youngest of the four branches.

The broader purpose of the video was to briefly discuss the four branches of western astrology, and how they each one has a unique conceptual basis.

This led to a discussion on my theory about how horary astrology originally developed out of the consultation chart, eventually forming a distinct branch of the tradition by the late 8th century CE.

Long-time readers of my blog will recall that I’ve outlined my arguments on the history and development of horary in more detail in previous blog posts, as this has been one of my major points of interest over the past several years.

You can find the full video below.   If you would like to see more videos then please let me know, and don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel.
