Mountain Astrologer Features Hellenistic Astrology

Posted by on June 2, 2012 at 12:53 amNo Comments Yet

An Introduction to Hellenistic Astrology: Part 2The latest issue of The Mountain Astrologer magazine features part 2 of my series titled An Introduction to Hellenistic Astrology.

In the first part of the series, which appeared earlier this year in the February/March issue, I covered the basic concepts of Hellenistic astrology, focusing on the ancient approach to the planets, signs, houses and aspects.

In the second and final part of the series, which is in the June/July issue, I discuss some of the different philosophical approaches underlying Hellenistic astrology, and I also outline two Hellenistic timing techniques which are used in order to determine when certain planets will be activated in a person’s natal chart.  These are what the Hellenistic astrologers referred to as “time-lord” techniques.  The first that I introduce is Annual Profections, and the second is called Zodiacal Releasing.

I am very grateful to the editors of TMA for the amount of room and leeway that they gave me in writing the article, and the result is a pretty respectable 12 page crash course in ancient astrological technique and theory.

Those who have a subscription to The Mountain Astrologer should have already received their copies.   If you aren’t a subscriber, then you should be able to get a copy of the current issue in the magazine section of most major bookstores, such as Barnes and Noble for example.  Or you can sign up as a new subscriber of TMA, which would entitle you to receive both the print version of the magazine as well as the new digital edition, which you can download instantly.
