Robert Schmidt on Hellenistic Astrology – part 1

Posted by Chris Brennan on Wednesday, June 20 20075 Comments

robert schmidtThis is the first 10 minutes of a video that was made in August of 2006 by Robert Schmidt of Project Hindsight for a conference in St. Petersburg Russia that he was not able to attend. In it he touches on some basic points concerning the history and origins of Hellenistic astrology. He is talking kind of slowly and deliberately so that the Russian’s could translate the video for the conference that it was shown at.

If you are interested in learning more about Project Hindsight and Hellenistic astrology then please visit their website at www.projecthindsight.com for more details.

I teach an online introductory course on Hellenistic astrology if you are interested in learning more about that tradition as well.

The historian Robert Burroughs has just written a book (“Rising in the East”) that documents the transmission of astrological knowledge from ancient Greece and Persia to the medieval Latin West. It is said to be the most comprehensive survey of stellar lore from antiquity up to the present day. I have yet to read it but as I have it on order I hope to do so in the very near future.

That sounds like a book that I would really be into. You will have to let me know what you think of it once you read it. I would like to get a copy as well. I just did a search for it on google and amazon, but I didn’t come up with anything. Where can I order this book?

Hello; nearly ten months ago I paid $65.00 for the Hermetic Astrology book reported in the process of printing & binding. No book has come forth, and I have repeatedly sent address change, and phone calls to follow up on the expected delivery. You folks seem to still be in business, so what’s the deal? Robert B

    Hello Robert,

I left Project Hindsight several months ago in October, and I haven’t had much contact with them since then, so unfortunately I don’t know what to tell you about your book. I have heard similar reports from other people, and I am hoping that it is just a temporary delay that will be cleared up in the near future, although I really have no idea what is going on. I’m sorry to hear about that.

    Regards,
    Chris
